Minghao Qiu Latest CV

Air pollution and climate change — their interconnections, impacts on human health, and the design of effective policies.

Minghao received his PhD from MIT (2021) and was a Planetary Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford before joining Stony Brook. He holds bachelor's degrees in environmental sciences and economics from Peking University.

Deyang Chen

Deyang studies how climate change affects human health through air quality. He uses statistical and air-quality models to connect climate, air pollution, and public health. Previously, he received a B.Eng. in Environmental Engineering from Minzu University of China and a B.A. in Finance from the Central University of Finance and Economics, followed by an M.A. in Management Science and Engineering from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and an M.A. in Economics and Business Administration from Aalborg University. Outside research, he enjoys playing basketball, photography, and hiking.

Devon Kaat

Devon studies the relationship between aerosols, extreme weather and climate, and their consequences for public health and operational safety. Previously, Devon received a B.A. from CUNY John Jay College with a double major in applied mathematics and forensic psychology. Outside research, Devon enjoys playing the piano and drums, rock climbing, snowboarding, cooking, and gaming.

Xinyi Zhou

Xinyi studies climate change and extreme weather events — their attribution, prediction, and impacts. She currently works on better quantifying the long-range transport of wildfire smoke events and their impacts on air quality. Previously, she received a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University and a B.S. in Marine Science from Zhejiang University. Outside research, she enjoys reading, traveling, and is an expert at jigsaw puzzles.
